Welcome to FOSSILGUY.COM

(actually there are two people, and one is a girl..)
The purpose of this site is:

  • To give general information about fossils, fossil collecting, and collecting sites.
  • To help fellow collectors I.D. their finds.

    Since we live in the mid-Atlantic, this site focuses on fossils mainly collected from the mid-Atlantic states.

    UPDATES

    November 2008
  • The Aurora site has been neglected for the last few years. So, over the last few weeks I leisurely added a few dozen new fossils to the Aurora site and made some minor changes.

    • October 2008
  • Trip: The last weekend in September was our date to enter the PCS Phosphate mine in Aurora, NC. Check out the finds!

    • September 2008
  • Trip: We took a trip down to Charles County, MD to set up at the Nanjemoy Heratige Day, and for a fossil hunt along the Potomac.

  • Site Update: Amy and I just took a trip to the Aquia Formation along the Potomac River. I added a few fossils and updated some images in the Potomac site page.

    • July 2008
  • Trip: Finally! An Update!!! This is an interesting trip. We tried our hands at Blackwater Diving in South Carolina. We are slowly getting better at this type of diving.

    • March 2008
  • Update: After having a bunch of Oklahoma trilobites sitting around for a few years, Roy Perrault was nice enough to prep one. We gave hime a Huntonia that Amy found. It turned out beautiful. Check it out!

  • Trip: We finally took a fossil trip this year! Of course, it's our spring trip to Aurora, NC to hunt in the PCS Phosphate mine. Check it out, lots of goodies were found!

    All of the fossils we found are identified to the best of our ability. In many cases we used books as well as the help of very knowledgeable people to identify them.
    If you think any fossils are miss-identified, please email us so we can change them.
    On the same note, if you know that info on a collecting area featured here is wrong, or has been closed, please let us know.
